Scar Tissue

Scar Tissue is a solo show written mostly in the haze and isolation of a COVID infection in June of 2022. A workshop performance took place on June 15 (my 35th birthday) in my backyard and the show premiered fully in July at the Kindling Arts Festival in Nashville TN.

Show description: On Emma’s sixth birthday, she mounted a bike and barreled down the hill of the house at her childhood home, ultimately resulting in her first scar. (That’s not a spoiler.) And now, she's here to tell you all about it. By turns hysterical and moving, Emma Supica’s vulnerable and comedic solo performance Scar Tissue invites audiences to consider their personal scars – both physical and invisible. These marks reveal truths about our innermost lives, and the recounting of the stories around them reminds us that, with the right amount of time, pain can be more than a sad story: it can be funny.
